The Manor travelled
to local neighbours Barkingside for this ESL match and
had an enforced change with Young Arun May making his
first start at full back and Joe Nightingale switching
to centre back.
The Braves started
very brightly and on a great pitch showed that they
can play excellent football when the conditions are
right.
There was a spirit
and work ethic displayed by them in this match that
was exciting to see. The visitors could easily have
gone a couple in front with Jerry Nkrumah and Dean Frett
just missing out.
Against the run
of play, Barkingside stole in on the blind side of the
Manor defence, after a quick breakaway, and opened the
scoring, 1-0, to the home side. Try as they did the
Manor were unable to force the equaliser and the curtain
came down on an excellent first with the Braves still
behind to the solitary goal.
After the break
now playing 3 up top, the Manor looked dangerous and
from one of their forays down the right flank, the irrepressible
Dean Frett laid the ball square for Tom Nyama to slot
home the equaliser. Both sides now went for the win
and only excellent shot saving by both keepers kept
the final score to 1-1. Manor Manager Kevin Durrant
and Coach Paul Norris were delighted with the all round
excellent performance and reminded the Squad that this
was the way they wanted the side to play in the massive
game this coming Saturday against Romford.
