Saturday 18th October 2008 - Kick Off 3pm

Report By Alex Lee

Manor Manager Kevin Durrant his assistant Nick Clark and coach Paul Norris all agreed that given the uneven surface at Clapton the Manor needed to be more direct in their approach play and not be caught out playing too much football in the wrong areas.

Their thinking was spot on and the Manor soon took control and bombarded the Clapton goal and it was only the brilliance of their keeper that kept out the Manor.

Save after save was made and great efforts by Courtney Linton, Neil Barrett and Jordan Childs were denied. Joe May was having an excellent game down the right flank and just when it seemed that the Manor would have nothing to show for their total domination, Joe May received a ball just inside the Clapton box, instantly controlled it with his first touch and then volleyed it past the despairing keeper, 1-0 to the Manor.

Half time came with no addition to the score. Shortly after the start of the second half the Manor replaced Jordan Childs, who is, although still not 100% match fit, gradually recovering his flair. Jerry Naramatt came on for his first game and his determined running soon unnerved a hesitant Clapton defence and it was no surprise when Dean Frett ran from midfield and cooly slotted the ball past the keeper, 2.-0 to the Manor.

Shortly after this the Manor allowed Clapton back into the game after an under-hit back pass left Manor keeper Nick Wilson stranded. Claptons joy was short lived however as Neil Barrett capped an excellent game by flicking on a header and Dean Frett made no mistake to put the Manor 3-1 up. The fight had by now almost gone from Clapton and the Manor dominance was even more apparent now and soon Courtney Linton scored a superb lobbed goal after an excellent through ball.

Manager Kevin Durrant , mindful of a tough upcoming league game against Basildon this coming Monday, bought on substitutes Ben Thomas and Sam May. They both dove tailed in very well and Young Ben soon made his mark with a telling pass to Courtney Linton who drove an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner for his second goal to make it
5-1 to the Manor and this was the final score.

MAN OF THE MATCH Joe May for his excellent wing play allied to good defensive cover.

Manager Kevin and his staff were obviously delighted with the result and Kevin said " We are steadily improving all round and although I was without Richard Simpson today who was injured, we had enough depth in our squad to fashion an excellent result and this takes us into our next game against Basildon in good form"

The Manor's next game is at Home to Basildon on Monday 20th October Kick off at 19:5.
