Essex Senior League

wednesday 21st January 2009 - Kick Off 7:45pm

The Manor surrendered a two goal lead to end up sharing the spoils with Hullbridge at Waltham Abbey. In a goaless first half Manor created the best opening when Courtney Linton was played in down the right channel, but the visiting keeper was out quickly to smother.
However, Linton made no mistake 15 minutes after the break when Tom Nyama and Jerry Nkrumah combined to give him a sight of goal from 12 yards.

The striker struck his firm shot into the roof of the net to give the home side the lead. 5 minutes later it looked as though Manor had sealed their fist win in 5 outings when Dean Frett ended his goal drought with a low shot into the far corner from just inside the Hullbridge box.

The home side then looked comfortable and had two shots cleared off the line and hit the crossbar as Hullbridge clung to their hopes of getting a result.

Then with 15 minutes left to play thier resiliance was rewarded when their first genuine attack of the second half resulted in headed goal to reduce the arrears. All of a sudden the home side were nervous and the visitors took over control of the game.

With 7 minutes remaining Manor failed to deal with a Hullbridge move down the right and the dangerous centre was eventually diverted beyond his own goalkeeper by the unfortunate Chris Barratt.

Manor fist team Coach Paul Norris commented after the game: "We just can't seem to grab a win at the moment. We did well for a lot of the game today but in the end we ran out of steam and got very nervous at 2-1. We have to look at ourselves and keep working as hard as possible and believe that we'll get that little bit of luck that will turn it around."
