The Manor Travel
up the A12 to Ryman League opposition Maldon Town in
the FA Cup Preliminary Round. The Manor without their
Skipper Steve Willis,
battling midfielder Jamie Barry, important central defenders
Chris and Neil Barratt, plus Goal Scoring sensation
Kunle Adeoye, however, the Braves still manage to field
a strong line-up to face Maldon on Saturday.

The Manor strike first from a good build up, Bradley
Nelson laying a superb ball to Anton Stephenson who
blasts the ball just wide of the post.

Maldon grab a corner, Manor keeper Darren Smyth comes
to collect, spots Jamie Wallace on a run and sends the
nippy midfielder tearing into Maldon’s half, Wallace
looking for options 'none available, so Wallace drives
on down the centre of the park and pulls the trigger
30 yards from goal but' was well blocked by the recovering
Maldon defence.

The Manor look the more threatening at this stage of
the game, Ricardo Amado using the left hand side to
create opportunities, however, Maldon's Dean Parrat
in real determined mood, however, Parrat having to be
warned by the referee for his tenacious tackling.

Free kick 25 yards out for the Manor, the ball driven
in by Bradley Nelson ‘but again ‘well blocked
by the Maldon wall, the Manor's Junior Konadu having
a stab from the rebound but the ball skips out of play.

Maldon score, against the run of play, down the left
hand side, the ball swept into the edge of the box Maldon's
Ross Parmenter noticing the Manor keeper off his line
chips the ball over Smyth's head and into the goal,
1-0 to Maldon.

The Manor continue to drive forward, Justin Cummins
sends a delightful ball down the right to the feet of
Stephenson, who does well to shrug off two challenges
before heading off towards goal, Maldon's keeper’
Darren Gould quick to react ‘comes out to challenge
and sweeps Stephenson off his feet, shouts for a penalty
echoed around the ground only for play to be waved on
by Mr Fitch the Match official!

Anton Stephenson once again showing great determination
breaks off down the centre of the park, loses possession
for a split second, but battles well to regain the ball
from Maldon's Jack Absolon and heads off towards the
Maldon box, Stephenson snatches at his shot which went
across goal, then whizzes inches past the post. Manor
at this stage looking a good bet to equalise.

Manor's Lee Smith looks to have taken a knock as he
struggles to assert himself in the middle of the park,
however, Smith does well to nudge the ball to Jaques
who sends Ricardo Amado off on a belting run down the
left hand side, crosses the ball to Nelson with his
back to goal, turns sharply to send the ball flying
just over the bar.

Maldon's turn to create havoc in the Manor box, Maldon's
No 9 James Robinson comes close with a sweetly taken
shot 'but well saved by the Manor Keeper Darren Smyth.

Stephenson once more making a real nuisance of himself
in Maldon's half of the field, collects the ball just
inside the box, does well to keep possession, from a
tight angle shoots, the ball looking goal bound ‘but
bounces off the outside of the post and out for a goal
kick.
Maldon once again break down the right and show their
class, the ball driven low into the box, the Manor defence
looking fragile as Maldon make it 2-0 from close range.

Manor making their first substitutes, Danny Cooley on
for Jaques and Deji Ojuroye for the struggling Lee Smith.
Second period and Maldon appear to step it up a gear,
the ball sent over the top into the path of a Johnson,
the ball seats up nicely as he smashes the ball past
the outstretched hands of Darren Smyth 3-0 to Maldon.

The Manor heads look to drop as Maldon come close to
their forth again the ball sent over the top of a advancing
Manor defence, however, Smyth this time manages to push
the ball out for a corner.

Maldon looking organised and well drilled as they continue
to swoop on the Manor defence, Courtney Mclean and Jason
Fox under immense pressure as Maldon come close again
this time Yohance Lewis coming close with a shot from
close range.

Maldon in determined mood as they continue to hassle
for every ball, the Manor not being allowed time on
the ball which forces errors and allows
Maldon to nearly net their forth.
Maldon now with the bit between their teeth looking
for their forth 'come close when James Robinson sends
in an awesome shot that crashes off the bar.

Robinson once again coming close shoots from just outside
the box, forcing Darren Smyth to his right and out for
a corner.
Maldon's patience rewarded when Steve Wareham does well
to battle his way into a shooting position and places
the ball into the net 4-0 to Maldon.

Manor's third substitution Ray Coker on for Justin Cummins.
Last few minutes of the game and James Robinson showing
his dominance in the second half, brings the ball into
the Manor half and goes route one, gets himself into
the Manor box and slots the ball home for Maldon's 5th
of the game.

The match finishing 5-0 to the home side. Maldon worthy
winners on the day. The Manor can take heart in their
first half performance, looked more than a match for
their Ryman rivals.

Maldon
now cruise through to the next round and everyone connected
