Sunday 17th August 08 Kick Off 12 noon

The Manor will exited the FA Cup on Sunday against Kingsbury London Tigers. Manor Boss Billy Cove said after the Game "Well, we kicked off our season with an away tie to Kingsbury London Tigers in the FA cup. You would have thought it was the final with the way that the home side were treating it. only wished my players had treated it the same way. We dominated the early exchanges but was restricted to long range efforts from Junior and Liam Allen, our only shot on target coming in the 89th minute from substitute Aliarni. The game was lost in the 50th minute, we conceded a freekick just inside our own half and with everyone napping they played a quick ball down the right side of the penalty area, the winger drove an early cross into the box and it was scrambled in at the far post. we got exactly what we deserved from the game which was NOTHING"

The Manor new manager Kevin Durrant had promised to strengthen the team and duly did, so with only four players remaining from the original squad, it soon became apparent that his new signings were all quality players and they took hold of the game very early on, forcing the Mauritius keeper to make some important saves and interceptions.

For a team that had not really trained or played together before the match it was exciting to see the Manor playing such a neat, tidy passing game . The defence looked comfortable and solid, the midfield combative and fluid and the attack sharp and incisive.

The Manor were very confident of doing well in this match and winning some needed prize money. Perhaps they were overly confident and their opponents sensing an upset really took the game to a lack lustre Manor side.

FC Benfica seemed much more composed and forged some decent opennings and Manor keeper Nick Wilson had to be at his best to keep Manor in the game.

The conditions were difficult with a strong swirling wind and control was not easy. Things looked to be going the way of the Manor when the opposition keeper was sent off for deliberate hand ball outside the box.

Manager Kevin Durrant was also forced to play striker Junior Abod as a defender due to the absense of his regular central defenders.

On the night the Manor came up against a very good Stanway side who took the lead after 5 minutes. New Manor striker Courtney Linton looked a real find and his pace and control led to him scoring a great equaliser with a shot into the top corner. Manor, however looked exposed at the back and they were given a torrid time by the visitors who ran in 3 more goals before half time to effectively put the game beyond the reach of the Manor.

Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy

Saturday 11th October 08 Kick Off 3pm

The Manor started off very strongly, with new signings Carl Bailey, Mark Benterman , Neil Barrett and Courtney Linton soon showing their prowess. It soon became one way traffic, with Hullbridge completely on the defensive.

It was no surprise when Richard Simpson drove home the ball after a great corner by Joe May. The Manor could have been more goals to the good after hitting the woodwork and seeing goalbound attempts kept out by last ditch defendind.

Hullbridge made the occasional foray into the Manor half but their forward momentum was always cut short by the Manor midfield and defence. For the Manor the wide play of Jordan Childs and Joe May was creating serious problems for the home side and Neil Barrett and the tireless Dean Frett dominated the middle of the park, Behind them the back four of Mark Benterman, Richard Simpson, Ricky Hales and Carl Bailey snuffed out any danger and keeper Nick Wilson was always on hand to tidy up.

Saturday 18th October 08 Kick Off 3pm

The Manor Boss Kevin Durrant his assistant Nick Clark and coach Paul Norris all agreed that given the uneven surface at Clapton the Manor needed to be more direct in their approach play and not be caught out playing too much football in the wrong areas.

Their thinking was spot on and the Manor soon took control and bombarded the Clapton goal and it was only the brilliance of their keeper that kept out the Manor.

Save after save was made and great efforts by Courtney Linton, Neil Barrett and Jordan Childs were denied. Joe May was having an excellent game down the right flank and just when it seemed that the Manor would have nothing to show for their total domination, Joe May received a ball just inside the Clapton box, instantly controlled it with his first touch and then volleyed it past the despairing keeper, 1-0 to the Manor.

Manor pre match talk, Manager Kevin Durrant and his assistant Nick Clark emphasised how important it would be to quickly go onto the offensive and take the game to their opponents.

The Manor penned Barking into their half straight away and looked very lively playing with the wind. The ever willing Dean Frett forced a corner down the left flank and the Manor big guns, Richard Simpson & Ricky Hayles came up for it. A great delivery by Joe May and excellent Manor movement in the box enabled Hayles to head in unmarked at the far post with the keeper nowhere near his powerful finish, 1-0 to the Manor.

Continued domination by the home side forced Barking onto the defensive and any attack that the visitors did try to mount was quickly snuffed out by a Manor defence superbly led by Richard Simpson who was back after injury.

Eton Manor welcomed new signings Remi Nelson and Laide Adeyemi to the squad , brought in by the Manager Kevin Durrant to replace the injured Manor Frontman Scott Lovett and Jordan Childs.

The Manor were soon in control of this game against an APSA side operating with a solitary striker.

New boy Remi Nelson was soon in action down the left flank and his close control and crossing ability troubled the home side. The Manor were quite prepared to pass their way out from the back and dominated the game. Following a foul on striker Courtney Linton up stepped Joe May to deliver a great free kick into the opposition box and Dean Frett ghosted in to head the opener after 15 minutes.

London APSA's attacks never gave the Manor defence any real problems and after a hopeful through ball was collected by Manor keeper Nick Wilson, his precise clearance was fastened onto by Remi Nelson whose excellent touch and control enabled him to glide through a static defence and put the Manor two up after 32 minutes.

Eton Manor bow out of the Cup Competeion they won last Season. The Manor started this game knowing that only a win would take them through to the quarter finals. Manager Kevin Durrant and his staff had done brilliantly in even getting their side to this position .

The first half was dominated by the home side with their opponents offering nothing in the way of an attacking threat.

Mauritius seemed content to play with a lone striker who spent his time being caught offside. Their defence was repeatedly stretched by the Manor attack and only a succession of fouls halted the home side.

The game was disrupted by these tactics from the visitors and made sustained momentum difficult. Perhaps a less lenient referee might have taken a stricter approach to the visitors time wasting and niggling fouls. Having said that, the home side should have gone in at the interval well in front but poor finishing had let them down and the game remained scoreless.

Before the game Manager Kevin Durrant and his staff were at pains to point out in the dressing room that the Manor needed to get back to winning ways if they were to maintain their position in the top five in the league. It was the home team however who had much the better of the first 15 minutes with the Manor struggling to mount any real attack and lacking at times the ability to clear out cleanly from the back.

Maybe the long trip was a factor in this poor opening but this Manor team does not lack a fighting spirit and it was this that gradually got them back into the match.

After these early alarms the home side took control for a while and a great move down the right flank allowed Danny Alleyne to play a great ball in for Joe May to slot in at the far post, 1-0 to the Manor.

This lead was short lived as the right side of the home defence was caught in possession and the visitors drilled a low deflected shot past the Manor keeper to level the scores.

Saturday 28th March 09, Kick Off 3pm

The Manor The Manor started this game with five changes due to suspensions and enforced absences. However as Assistant Manager Nick Clark pointed out "these things happen during a long season and you have to make sure you have a squad to cover this ".

As the game started it appeared from early on that the visitors were more up for this game than some of the home side. Southend could easily have gone two up before the Braves came out of the traps. However it has to be said that the visitors were the better side throughout the first half even though against the run of play the home side managed to fashion a couple of decent chances .

Essex Senior League

Sawb'o Town 2, Eton Manor 3

Saturday 4th April 09, Kick Off 3pm

The Manor had Dean Frett and Courtney Mclean back in the side for this ESL League clash at Sawbridgeworth. The Braves elected to play up the slope in the first half and it was not long before the rampaging Jerry Nkrumah unsettled the home side defence with his direct and forceful running.

The visitors looked compact and sharp and could easily have gone in front early in the game but resolute defending kept them out. However it was the home side who struck first when the Manor failed to deal with an innocuous looking corner and the ball was forced home.

It did not take long for the response to come from the Braves as Jerry Nkrumah latched onto a through ball and smashed the ball into the Sawbo goal from the edge of the box, such was the ferocity of his strike , the keeper never moved. 1-1.

Essex Senior League

Barkingside 1, Eton Manor 1,

Monday 6th April 09, Kick Off 7:4pm

The Manor travelled to local neighbours Barkingside for this ESL match and had an enforced change with Young Arun May making his first start at full back and Joe Nightingale switching to centre back.

The Braves started very brightly and on a great pitch showed that they can play excellent football when the conditions are right.

There was a spirit and work ethic displayed by them in this match that was exciting to see. The visitors could easily have gone a couple in front with Jerry Nkrumah and Dean Frett just missing out.

Essex Senior League

Eton Manor 0, Romford 1

Monday 11th April 09, Kick Off 3pm

The Manor entertained High flyers Romford for this clash and even though Manager Kevin Durrent and coach Paul Norris had emphasised the importance of a committed first 20 minutes, the Braves were 2nd best for much of the opening phase of the game.

In truth, although the visitors created little, it was only the strength of the Manor back 4 and keeper Nick Wisons sure handling that kept them on terms. However from a well worked corner the visitors took the lead when the Manor defenders failed to pick up the runner, 1-0 to Romford.

Essex Senior League

Eton Manor 3, Clapton 1

Monday 18th April 09, Kick Off 3pm

The Manor started this home game against Clapton with the intention of trying to get maximum points from their remaining 4 matches and Assistant Manager Nick Clark had emphasised this in his pre- match talk.

Manager Kevin Durrant was at pains to point out that the pitch would be very uneven and that it was essential to keep moving the ball on after one or two touches and not dwell on it .

The Braves. should have gone 2 up within 10 minutes against their opponents but poor control and finishing let them down. In fairness conditions were difficult but if players had stuck to the gaffers advice they would have sliced through the visitors defence at will.

Essex Senior League

Eton Manor 1, Enfield 1893 0

Tuesday 21st April 09, Kick Off 7:45pm

The Manor The Manor started this game with a passion and tempo that Manager Kevin Durrant had demanded in his pre- match talk. They immediately took the game to their opponents Enfield 1893 and easily had the better of the opening exchanges.

Wide players Tom Nyama and Courtney Linton worked up and down the flanks tirelessly and with Dean Frett making late forays forward to support the tigerish Jerry Nkrumah Enfield were under extreme pressure. Joe May was his usual skillfull self and Michael Ghiorghiou, in a holding mid field role was discipline personified.

The Manor back four of Danny Alleyne, Richard Simpson, Neil Barrett and Joe Nightingill were unfazed by any attacking threat by Enfield. The Braves keeper Nick Wilson was his usual confident self and this whole team ethic constantly had Enfield on the back foot.

Essex Senior League

Eton Manor 0, Burnham Ramblers 1

Thursday 23rd April 09, Kick Off 7:45pm

The Manor entertained Burnham for this ESL game and it soon became apparent that many of their players were really feeling the effects of the tough match that they had playded against Enfield 1893 on Tuesday night. With a very small squad Manager Kevin Durrant was unable to make many changes .The game was played pretty direct by both sides and indeed these were the right tactics as the pitch was very hard and so getting the ball down and passing was not really an option.

Neither side managed to fashion anything of note in a dour first half. After the interval the Braves replaced a tired Joe May with Courtney Linton and also took off Jerry Nkrumah and Joe Nightingill to give them some respite before the Manor's final game this Saturday away to Bowers & Pitsea.

Essex Senior League

Bowers & Pitsea 1, Eton Manor 1

Saturday 25th April 09, Kick Off 3pm

The Manor rounded off their season with a 1-1 draw at Bowers & Pitsea - a result which saw the Manor secure a credible 6th placed finish within the Essex Senior League.

Manor Head Coach Paul Norris rolled back the years with a virtuoso performance as a late substitute playing on the right of a 3 pronged Manor attack. However, it was the home side who had the better of the first 45 minutes and but for a couple of good saves by Manor keeper Nick Wilson in the Manor goal they might have taken a lead into half time.

The Manor lost Michael Gheorgiou to a first half injury which saw Aaron May move into midfield and Tony Hadley slotted in seamlessly at right full back. His name might not have been Rio but this was a performance that certainly was GOLD.
