A depleted Braves
came to this game leading 5-0, but with so many players
missing it looked as though damage limitation was going
to be the order of the day. Once again football proved
what a pervers game it can be as within 10 minutes of
the start, striker Lloyd Butler flashed home a superb
strike after a great pass from Michael Marin.
This early goal
set the tone for the match and next to try his luck
was Danny Alleyne, just missing the target. It was all
the Manor now and Tom Nyama rounded 2 defenders and
the keeper to put the Braves 2up on the night, 7-0 on
aggregate. A consolation was gifted to the home side
when a mix up by Manor keeper Michael Wakefield, 2-1
now. A dispirited home side, even after this gift, were
run ragged by a disciplined, vibrant Braves and Nyama
could well have had a hat trick by half time and Butler
saw another great effort strike the base of the post.
Great support from the Manor travelling band of supporters
urged the team on but no further goals were notched
by half time.
After the break
it was again the Braves pushing forward, sporadic breaks
from the opposition were well handled by the disciplined
Manor defence .
Tom Nyama was again to the fore as his effort was well
saved by the Tiptree keeper, this was a brief respite,
as Courtney Linton, back in the fold, fired home a penalty
to make it 3-1 and 8-1 on aggregate. Worse was to follow
for the hapless home side as the same player picked
his spot into the far corner after a corner was half
cleared to him.
The Braves were
now 9-1 up on aggregate and Manager Durrant rang the
changes to give run outs to subs that have supported
him throughout the season. The game ended with no further
scoring andso the Braves progress to the Semi Finals,
again to be played over 2 legs.
Manager Kevin
Durrant and his staff were jubilant after the match
and Kevin said "A great team effort, all of them
men of the match for me, they did what we asked of them
and it just shows that if eveyone sticks to the game
plan that myself, Nick and Paul have set for them, we
will get the results."
