The Braves kept
up their unbeaten run with a well earned point at Barking.
Early action was limited to a deflected shot from a
homw player that was easily saved by Manor keeper, Michael
Wakefield. At the other end, Manor frontman Danny Clarke
netted only to called back for offside. The visitors
were slightly in the ascendency now and a flowing move
ended with Tom Nyama just shooting narrowly wide when
well placed.
This was soon
followed by a free kick from Paul Marin that fell to
Danny Clarke who fired just over. The Braves were well
in control nowand forced a corner down the Barking left
flank , this was curled over by Michael Marin only for
Carl Bailey to head wide of the target. Sporadic attacks
from the home attack were dealt with by the Braves defence
but the speedy right wing man looked dangerous when
in possession and the Manor left flank were guilty on
more than one occassion of diving into tackle rather
than showing him the line. The best chance of the game
now fell, after 32 minutes to Manor's Danny Clarke who
fastened onto a superb through ball but failed to find
the net with only the keeper to beat. A massive let
off for the home side.
The Braves themselves
then had a let off when from a corner an unmarked Barking
attacker headed over. Another home side attack down
their right flank found the Manor defence diving in
recklessly again with the inevitable penalty the result.
This was slotted home confidently by Lee Pyne and the
home side took the lead much against the perceived run
of play.
After the half time break, the game became very scrappy
with neither side managing to get the ball down, play
or make clear cut chances until the 70th minute when
an excellent pass by Dean Frett put the Braves striker
Clarke again into a one on one with the keeper but yet
again a great chance was spurned. The Manor were visibly
deflated by this miss and it looked as though they would
go further behind when Manny Sackey was harshly adjudged
to have handled in the box, however Pyne failed to repeat
his earlier success as his penalty was struck high and
wide, reprieving the Braves. Gary Mackin missed another
good chance soon after to double Barking's lead.
The game looked
to be going Barking's way but Manor midfield man, Michael
Marin had other ideas and after collecting a loose bal
he fired in a magnificent shot from fully 30 yards into
the roof of the net to level up the scores. Both sides
now went for the winner and the Manor came closest when
a pinpoint cross was headed wide by substitute Richard
Simpson. In the end the draw was a fair result.
