Manor started
this match with new signing Manny Sackey soon showing
his quality in mid field. After 5 minutes the superb
Danny Clark, although not 100% fit, turned the Tiptree
defence inside out to lay off a great pass to Joe May.
The resulting shot was cleared off the line as was the
follow up from Tom Nyama.
Manor were dominating
the exchanges now and Clarke was a constant danger up
front. From one of his lay offs the ball went to Steve
Readind and his long, searching ball forward was headed
in with aplomb by skipper Dean Frett. 1-0 to the visitors
after 8 minutes.
Manor's stand-in
keeper Michael Bowditch was smartly off his line to
thwart a Home attack on his club debut, but was left
stranded by a static Manor defence after they failed
to handle a long punt from the home keeper and this
allowed the Tiptree equaliser to come. Manor continued
to look the better side even after this setback and
soon restored their lead when the ever busy Dean Frett
was up ended by the home keeper after 25 minutes, and
up stepped dead ball specialist Joe May to slot home
the penalty, 2-1 to the Manor.
The visitors
continued to press hard and went close on a few more
occasions but were unable to increase their lead as
half time came. Immediately after the break, more crass
defending allowed the home side in for a soft equaliser.
Again the Manor had to show character and resilience
to get back into the game and the dangerous Clarke again
got through but fired over. Both sides were prepared
to go for the win and first the visitors came very close
to scoring through Frett and then the home side went
close at the other end. From a Tiptree attack the Manor
defence dropped off and were punished again after some
good passing and movement, 3-2 to Tiptree.
Asa Pamplin and
Courtney Linton were now put on up front for the Manor
to try and fashion a goal. Both went close before a
great cross by Joe May was cooly headed in by Linton
to level the scores, 3-3 after 88 minutes. The game
soon entered time added on after 90 minutes by the referee
and in an unbelievable extra 9 minutes the Manor contrived
to ruin a decent come back by conceding a needless penalty,
4-3 to Tiptree, and this was the final score.
As Manager Kevin
Durrant said after the game, "We must work on our
concentration levels to eliminate the silly mistakes
that are costing us dear . We have come to Tiptree to
play the side tipped by many to be in the promotion
spot , took the game to them, scored 3 goals , and still
come away empty handed and as in previous games conceded
soft goals. We cannot fault the spirit in the side but
obviously Nick, Paul, Asa and myself need to address
urgently our defensive set up. We play Basildon in the
Cup at Barking on Wednesday so we have to work quickly.
We have a tough period coming up but we will be properly
prepared and move positively forward as a Club."
