Hullbridge Sports
defeated Eton Manor after edging a game that was decided
in the opening 25 minutes.
The visitors
looked composed in the first 10 minutes however, when
Hullbridge did threaten Chris Brown took advantage of
some hestitant Manor defending to put the home side
in front.
The response
from the vistors was emphatic. Just 4 minutes later
Danny Clarke netted his 5th goal of the season to restore
parity. For a few minutes it looked as though the Manor
would take control, but Hullbridge continued to carry
a considerable threat on the counter.
When what turned
out to be the winner came about, there was more than
a hint of offside. Brown got in and as the visitors
defence stood static, appealing for a flag that never
came, Hullbridge restored their lead.
In the second
half the Manor dominated the posession, but Hullbridge
were well drilled defensively and never really looked
like surrendering their lead.
Manor boss Kevin
Durrant said afterwards: "I am very disappointed
with us today. There was no urgency, very little passion
and a lack of desire to make things happen. In this
league it doesn't matter how much ability you have you
must compete. And Hullbridge wanted the game more."
