The Braves knew
all about tht threat that the visitors had up front
and a bad early mistake in central defence almost led
to an early goal for the visitors as they shot wide
when clean through. At the other end the Manor had half
a chance that fell to Dean Frett but he allowed the
ball to try and run to his right and the chance was
lost.
Poor defending
again allowed the visitors half chances which were spurned.
The Braves were not playing badly but lack of concentration
and wrong options looked likely to cost them at the
back. The gamr remained end to end though and after
Tom Nyama had gone close, a good bout of passing saw
Neil Barrett lay the ball back to Paul Marin who scored
with a precise shot inside the right post, 1-0 to the
Braves.
Not to be out
done the visitors raced through the Manor defence and
should have levelled the scores but somehow shot wide
from a great position. Come the break and the Braves
leading 1-0.
After the break
, the mistake that seemed likely at the back of the
Manor defence happened when a soft back pass allowed
the visitors a gift equaliser. 1-1. Worse was to follow
when the centre of the Braves defence was found wanting
and Bowers slotted home to go 2-1 up.
Credit though to the Braves for they dug in and defiantly
went about looking for the equaliser and should have
got it when Tom Nyama was through but shot against the
visitors keeper.
However the persistence
paid off when a loose ball fell to Danny Clarke and
he made no mistake and levelled the scores . 2-2. Soon
after this Dean Frett was upended in the box but the
Braves penalty appeals were waved away by the referee.
The visitors were still very much in the game and again
missed a great chance to score.
Once again though
the pendulum swung the Braves way as excellent approach
play by Richard Simpson and Paul Marin set up Neil Barrett
to slide home, 3-2 to the Manor. It looked all over
a Manor win now but from a disputed corner the Braves
defending was non existent and the Bowers striker ghosted
in to power a headed equaliser into the roof of the
net, 3-3. Apart from a decent penalty appeal that was
given outside the box the Manor were unable to fashion
another chance and so the match ended all square with
honours even.
Manager Kevin
Durrant said "Once again we have conceded through
lack of concentration and we must get this out of our
game. I was pleased with our attitude and will to get
a win . We played quite well but need to iron out a
few technical details before we play Enfield on Saturday."
