The Braves returned
to winning ways with this comprehensive win which went
some way to make up for the very disappointing loss
at Hullbridge on Saturday.
The Manor stated
this game with as many as 6 regulars absent and were
further weakened when Danny Alleyne limped off with
a reoccurence of his hamstring injury after 20 minutes.
However, they did welcome back Michael Marin for his
first start since limping out of the opening game of
the season against Stansted.
The home team
started well and had just begun to exert some control
when they surprisingly went behind against the run of
play. A left wing corner was headed goalbound and somehow
squirmed over the line. This reverse spurred on a spirited
Manor side 4 minutes before the interval they were level.
Skipper Dean Frett volleyed home a great cross, from
Chris Barrett, to end a drought of 7 games without a
goal.
However, Chris
Barratt's run without a goal was even longer, but in
the final minute of the half he met a superb Paul Marin
corner with a close range header to put the Manor ahead.
The home side did not let up after the break, and a passionate
Braves team extended their lead when on 55 minutes another
great ball from Marin was slid home by Joe Nightingill
and then to cap a great display by the Braves, the exhuberant
Paul Marin Knocked an incisive ball over the visitors
left flank to the ever willing Scott Lovett whose delightful
cross was put away by the gleeful Courtney Linton.
4-1 to the Braves.
A great result purred Manager Kevin Durrant and a perfect
response to the dire Saturday performance.
