The Manor travelled
to this game against high flying opponents Takeley hoping
to have addressed some of their defensive frailty with
new signing Isaac Alabi coming into the back four .
Both sides have early good chances when first the home
side missed a free header from close in and at the other
end Dean Frett had his goal bound effort saved by the
keepers feet.
Takeley soon
took the lead when the Manor defender dwelt on the ball
and lost it to the home side striker who rounded the
Manor keeper with ease to open the scoring. The visitors
were giving the Takeley defence a torrid time and the
irrepressible Danny Clarke fired over after a fine pass
from Frett. However the home side soon went 2 up when
slack marking led to the Manor conceding .Somehow the
visitors gained control in midfield and through sheer
character got back into the game.
Clarke and Linton
up front were causing all sorts of problems and from
a great through ball from the muscular Manny Sackey,
Courtney Linton slotted in the first Manor goal. The
visitors were now fired up and an intelligent early
free kick from the industrious Sid Nelson was pounced
on by Linton to fire in the Manor equaliser. It was
one way traffic now and the visitors took an unlikely
lead when the home side defence were again unable to
handle Danny Clarke and he smashed in from close range.
The visitors continued with their assault on the home
side goal and Frett fired over when well placed and
Manny Sackey had a great free kick, which should have
been a penalty, palmed away by the keeper.
Come Half Time
and the visitors go in leading 3-2 having been 2-0 down,
a great come back. After the break , Takeley soon took
early control against a nervous looking Manor side and
a distinct lack of confidence seemed apparent in the
visitors defence. The inevitable soon happened as twice
the Manor defence had the chance to clear their lines
and having failed to do so, presented Takeley with the
equaliser.
No one seemed
willing or able to take physical or verbal control at
the back for the Manor and although Clarke continued
to terrorise the Takeley defence, one felt that it would
be the home side who would take the lead against a dispirited
Manor defence. A corner was conceded on the Manor left
flank, defenders switched off, concentration disappeared
and the ball was played across an inept defence for
Takeley to go in front 4-3. Manor put on sub Asa Pamplin
in an effort to chase the equaliser and indeed came
very, very close to fashioning a goal but the home defence
held out and the visitors ended up losing again a game
that they should have got a result from.
Manor Manager
Kevin Durrant said "It's very apparent where we
are falling down at the moment and it is something that
will be sorted out, one way or another. We have a massive
FA Vase game next Saturday and you can rest assured
we will be ready and 100% up for it. "
