The Braves started
strongly against a useful Enfield side and Manor striker
Danny Clark made inroads down the right but no one was
able to get on the end of his cross. However, the fragile
nature of the Braves defending was soon apparent and
the inability to deal with balls through the heart of
the defence and indeed midfield looked likely to allow
the visitors the upper hand.
A harsh penalty,
excellently saved by the Braves keeper Paul Daley might
have served to aid their concentration but to no avail
as another through ball was played down the middle,
cover being non existent , 1-0 to the visitors Up top
the Manor caused sporadic problems as Neil Barratt went
close with a header from a volleyed cross and new striker
Lloyd Butler had two great efforts , one saved by the
keeper and the other just whistling wide. Come the half
time whistle with the Braves pressing hard but unable
to fashion an equaliser.
The Braves had
a great shout for a penalty turned away after the break
and in a hard fought game watched by a considerable
crowd seemed to get the majority of the cards being
waved around by the fussy, over zealous refereee.
An innocuous
cross from the left flank was not cleared out by the
Manor defence and the visitors scrambled in to give
them a 2-0 cushion, Manor Manager Kevin Durrant and
his team on the line rang the changes but to no effect,
the Braves threatened at times but looked unlikely to
break down the solid visitors defending. Final result
2-0 to Enfield.
Manager Durrant
said "We have got to defend as a unit and be more
competitive at times allover the pitch."
